१६.५ कोटी गाड्यांचा विमा नसल्याने सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाचे कठोर पाऊल; आता विनाविमा वाहनांना पेट्रोल पंपांवर इंधन मिळणार नाही!

नवी दिल्ली: (Supreme Court Vehicle Insurance Rule) देशभरातील रस्त्यांवर धावणाऱ्या विनाविमा वाहनांच्या वाढत्या संख्येवर सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने अत्यंत कठोर पवित्रा घेतला आहे. ज्या वाहनांचा वैध विमा नसेल, त्यांना पेट्रोल पंपांवर इंधन नाकारण्याचा पथदर्शी प्रकल्प राबवण्याचा महत्त्वाचा प्रस्ताव न्यायालयाने केंद्र सरकारसमोर ठेवला आहे. रस्ते अपघातातील पीडितांना आणि त्यांच्या कुटुंबियांना वेळेत नुकसानभरपाई मिळण्यात येणाऱ्या अडचणी दूर करण्यासाठी न्यायालयाने हा ऐतिहासिक निर्णय घेतला आहे. न्यायमूर्ती संजय करोल आणि न्यायमूर्ती प्रशांत कुमार मिश्रा यांच्या खंडपीठाने विनाविमा वाहनांवर कारवाई करण्यासाठी उच्च तंत्रज्ञानाचा वापर करण्याचे निर्देश दिले आहेत. रस्त्यांवर बसवलेल्या 'ऑटोमॅटिक नंबर प्लेट रिकग्निशन' कॅमेऱ्यांद्वारे विनाविमा गाड्यांची ओळख पटवून थेट संगणकीय चलान फाडले जाईल. मोटार वाहन कायद्यानुसार पहिल्यांदा विनाविमा गाडी चालवल्यास २००० रुपये दंड किंवा ३ महिन्यांपर्यंत तुरुंगवास होऊ शकतो. दुसऱ्यांदा हाच गुन्हा केल्यास दंड ४००० रुपयांपर्यंत वाढेल. खंडपीठाने चिंता व्यक्त करताना सांगितले की, देशात तब्बल साडेसोळा कोटी (१६.५ कोटी) वाहने विनाविमा धावत आहेत, ही अत्यंत गंभीर बाब आहे. अपघात झाल्यास पीडितांना कायदेशीर प्रक्रियेत अडकून पडावे लागते आणि आर्थिक मदत मिळण्यास प्रचंड विलंब होतो. (Supreme Court Vehicle Insurance Rule)

नवीन चारचाकी आणि दुचाकी वाहनांसाठी विम्याचा कालावधी वाढवला
