नवी दिल्ली (BWF World Championships 2026 India) : राजधानी दिल्लीत सुरू असलेल्या BWF World Championships 2026 मध्ये दि. १९ ऑगस्ट रोजी स्पर्धेच्या तिसऱ्या दिवशी भारतासाठी संमिश्र निकाल पाहायला मिळाले. काही भारतीय खेळाडूंनी शानदार विजय मिळवत पुढील फेरीत प्रवेश केला, तर लक्ष्य सेन आणि युवा खेळाडू उन्नती हुड्डा यांचे स्पर्धेतील आपला प्रवास इथेच थांबवावा लागला.

दोन वेळची ऑलिम्पिक पदकविजेती पी. व्ही. सिंधूने कॅनडाच्या वेन यू झांगचा २१-१६, २१-१७ असा पराभव केला. अवघ्या ३५ मिनिटांत सामना जिंकत सिंधूने महिला एकेरीच्या प्री-क्वार्टर फायनलमध्ये प्रवेश केला. (BWF World Championships 2026 India)

आयुष शेट्टीचा आणखी एक शानदार विजय

जागतिक क्रमवारीतील अव्वल खेळाडू शि यूकीला पहिल्या फेरीत पराभूत करून खळबळ उडवणाऱ्या आयुष शेट्टीने दुसऱ्या फेरीत श्रीलंकेच्या दुमिंदू अबेविक्रमा याचा २१-०८, २१-१० असा पराभव केला. अवघ्या २६मिनिटांत विजय मिळवत आयुषने अंतिम १६ मध्ये स्थान मिळवले. (BWF World Championships 2026 India)

लक्ष्य सेन, उन्नती हुड्डाच्या पदरी निराशा

भारतासाठी दिवसातील सर्वात मोठा धक्का लक्ष्य सेनच्या पराभवाचा ठरला. अमेरिकेच्या १८ वर्षीय गॅरेट टॅनने लक्ष्यचा १९-२१, २१-१९, २१-१७ असा तीन गेममध्ये पराभव केला. पहिला गेम जिंकल्यानंतरही लक्ष्यला सामना आपल्या बाजूने वळवता आला नाही. त्यामुळे त्याचे स्पर्धेतील आव्हान राउंड ऑफ ३२ मध्येच संपले. अटीतटीच्या लढतीनंतर लक्ष्यने आपल्या कामगिरीबाबत निराशा व्यक्त केली. सामना अत्यंत कठीण असल्याचे सांगताना लक्ष्य सेन म्हणाला, “हा खूप कठीण सामना होता. मी माझे सर्वस्व पणाला लावले. तिसऱ्या गेमच्या अखेरीस मी शारीरिकदृष्ट्याही खूप थकलो होतो.” गॅरेट टॅनने संपूर्ण सामन्यात चांगला आणि ठोस खेळ केल्याचेही लक्ष्यने मान्य केले.
