सेउटा (Spain Morocco Border Tensions) : उत्तर आफ्रिकेतील मोरोक्को आणि स्पेन यांच्यातील सीमेलगत असलेल्या सेउटा या स्पेन-शासित प्रदेशात बेकायदेशीर घुसखोरीचे संकट उभे राहिले आहे. मोरोक्कोहून हजारो स्थलांतरितांनी सीमा ओलांडून स्पेनमध्ये प्रवेश करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. घटनेची माहिती मिळताच स्पेन प्रशासनाने घुसखोरांना रोखण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. या गोंधळात ९ जणांचा मृत्यू झाला असून अनेक जण जखमी झाले आहेत.

सेउटा हा आफ्रिका खंडात असला तरी तो स्पेनचा भाग आहे. त्यामुळे तो युरोपियन युनियनच्या (EU) बाह्य सीमांपैकी एक मानला जातो. आफ्रिका आणि मध्यपूर्वेतील अनेक नागरिक युरोपमध्ये रोजगाराच्या आणि आर्थिक संधींच्या शोधात या मार्गाचा वापर करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात. (Spain Morocco Border Tensions)

स्थानिक माध्यमांच्या वृत्तानुसार, सुमारे दोन ते तीन हजार स्थलांतरितांनी सीमेकडे धाव घेतली. काहींनी सीमावरील कुंपण पार केले, तर अनेकांनी समुद्रातून पोहत किंवा ट्यूबच्या सहाय्याने सेउटामध्ये प्रवेश करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. त्यामुळे सीमावर्ती भागात एकच खळबळ उडाली.

परिस्थिती नियंत्रणाबाहेर जात असल्याचे लक्षात येताच स्पेन सरकारने अतिरिक्त पोलीस, सिव्हिल गार्ड आणि लष्करी जवानांची तातडीने तैनाती केली. सीमावर्ती भागात कडक सुरक्षा व्यवस्था लागू करण्यात आली असून, बेकायदेशीर घुसखोरी रोखण्यासाठी गस्त वाढविण्यात आली आहे. तसेच, स्पेन सरकारने या घटनेचा आढावा घेण्यासाठी उच्चस्तरीय बैठकही बोलावली आहे.
