बोट उलटल्यानंतर नदीत पडलेल्या प्रवाशांना वाचवण्यासाठी तातडीने मदतकार्य सुरू करण्यात आले. आतापर्यंत २० जणांना सुरक्षित बाहेर काढण्यात आल्याची माहिती समोर आली आहे. मात्र बोटीत नेमके किती प्रवासी होते आणि किती जण अद्याप बेपत्ता आहेत याबाबत अधिकृत माहिती मिळालेली नाही. (Godavari River Boat Accident)
माध्यमांवरून मिळत असलेल्या माहितीनुसार, घटनेतून बचावलेल्या महिलेने गंभीर आरोप करत सांगितले की, बोटीत आधीच गर्दी असतानाही बोटचालकाने आणखी प्रवाशांना बसवले. "इतके लोक बसू शकतात का?" असा प्रश्न विचारला असता, "५० पेक्षा जास्त प्रवासी नेहमी बसतात" असे उत्तर देण्यात आले. काही प्रवासी उतरण्याचा प्रयत्न करत असतानाही त्यांना पुन्हा बोटीत बसवण्यात आल्याचा दावा तिने केला.
