पत्रकार परिषदेत बोलताना पृथ्वीराज चव्हाण (Prithviraj Chavan) म्हणाले की, अमेरिकेचे माजी राष्ट्राध्यक्ष डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प यांचे सल्लागार स्टीव्ह बॅनन यांनी जेफ्री एपस्टीनकडे भारताच्या पंतप्रधानांशी भेट घडवून आणण्याची विनंती केली होती. या विनंतीला उत्तर देताना एपस्टीनने “Modi is on board” असे म्हटल्याचा उल्लेख संबंधित ई-मेलमध्ये आहे, असा दावा चव्हाण यांनी केला. एपस्टीन फाईल्समध्ये सुमारे ३०० जीबी डेटा आणि लाखो कागदपत्रे असल्याचे सांगत, या संपूर्ण प्रकरणाची सखोल आणि पारदर्शक चौकशी होणे अत्यावश्यक असल्याचे चव्हाण यांनी नमूद केले. केवळ नाव समोर आल्याने कोणी दोषी ठरत नाही, मात्र संबंधांबाबत स्पष्टता येणे गरजेचे आहे, असेही पृथ्वीराज चव्हाण (Prithviraj Chavan) म्हणाले.
