या भेटीपूर्वीच संजय राऊत यांनी सकाळी पत्रकार परिषद घेऊन राज ठाकरे यांची भेट घेणार असल्याचे जाहीर केले होते. त्यामुळे या भेटीकडे माध्यमांसह संपूर्ण राजकीय वर्तुळाचे लक्ष लागले होते. गेल्या अनेक महिन्यांपासून मुंबईसह राज्यातील विविध महानगरपालिका निवडणुका ठाकरे बंधू एकत्र लढणार असल्याची चर्चा सुरू होती. या भेटीनंतर त्या चर्चांना अधिक बळ मिळाले आहे. पत्रकार परिषदेत बोलताना संजय राऊत यांनी महत्त्वाची माहिती देत सांगितले की, मुंबईसह कल्याण-डोंबिवली, ठाणे, मीरा-भाईंदर तसेच पुणे आणि नाशिक या प्रमुख महापालिकांमध्ये शिवसेना (उद्धव बाळासाहेब ठाकरे) आणि मनसे एकत्रितपणे निवडणुका लढवणार आहेत. सध्या जागावाटपावर अंतिम टप्प्यात चर्चा सुरू असून, युतीची अधिकृत घोषणा लवकरच करण्यात येईल, असेही त्यांनी स्पष्ट केले.
