Due to efforts of Sangh parivar organisations in Mumbai & suburbs, we could celebrate 'Ramayana Masam' in Hindu homes, Temples and Samajams in a grand manner during the period, July 16 - August 16 and arranging spiritual speeches of well known orators in Malayalam.

Most of Hindu Malayali homes all over the world keep our sacred historical epic, 'Aadhyatma Ramayanam Kilippattu', translated into Malayalam by Thunchaththu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan (1495-1575), who is considered as 'Father of Malayalam.' Hindus recite Ramayanam daily from July 16th to August 16th (Karkkidakam as per Malayalam month). Ezhuthachan created the Malayalam version of Maharshi Valmiki's Ramayana in Sanskrit.

He kept all the essence and used simple Malayalam words, so that even the common man in Kerala can understand. However, it's sad that pseudo-secular government's ruling in Kerala has neglected one of Kerala's great scholars and reformers, Thunchaththu Ezhuthachan and his statue has not yet been erected to the public in his native place in today's Malappuram district and is kept in a store room of Thirur Muncipality office due to objection of a section of people, who is against our Sanathan Dharma. It was later erected in a neighbourhood school by his followers.

The 'Adhyatma Ramayanam' has helped Malayali Hindus to live with spirituality and taught them to live selflessly and show kindness to others. The epic explains about 'Maryada Purushothaman', Sriramachandran, one of the ten avatars (incarnation) of Maha Vishnu, the hero who lived like a common man and goes on a quest, faces a lot of trouble and comes back a victor. This story has affected the lives of many people, as per Hindu Mythology which led the mass to recite Ramayanam in their homes during the lean month of 'Karkkidakam' to eradicate their problems.

In 1982, there was a mammoth rally named 'Vishala Hindu Sammelanam' held at Ernakulam by Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The Sangh Parivar leaders Padmabhushan Shri P. Parameswaran, Shri P. Madhavan, Swami Sathyananda Saraswati, Shri R. Hari, Justice A. R. Srinivasan, Shri J. Shishupalan, Shri Kummanam Rajashekharan etc led the Sammelanam. This rally changed the life of common Hindus in Kerala, as their self pride and self respect increased due to the participation of people all over Kerala and it showed a warning to pseudo-secularists and Communists, who were constantly disturbing and attacking the Hindus and their rituals. The aim or motto of this Sammelanam was spread in every corner of the villages of Kerala.

The organizers planned to arrange small 'Yathras' in various places to convince Hindus about this Sammelanam, then united all small yathras into this mammoth rally in Ernakulam. The decision of recital of 'Adhyatma Ramayanam' in all Hindu homes was decided and declared in this 'Vishala Hindu Sammelanam.' People have accepted this 'Ahwan' (declaration) into their lives. Since then, most of the Hindus are continuing the recital of Ramayanam during this period irrespective of their caste, class etc. Now you can hear most of the Hindu homes and Temples chanting Srirama japas, slogans, stories of Rama and Ramayana all over the world. We have been arranging special Ramayana recitals in Temples, Q & A competitions about Ramayana, special poojas, Aadhyatmik prabhashanams (spiritual speeches) etc.

Swami Vivekananda on his visit to Travancore (present Kerala) in 19th century said, "This is a lunatic asylum." after witnessing the worst inequality in upper and lower caste in Hindu community and conversion to other religions. However, after 'Vishala Hindu Sammelanam' Sangh parivar could change the said black mark of Kerala by letting Hindus to participate together irrespective of their castes and prove that this is a spiritual place (God's own country) and the Aadhayatma Ramayanam has played a big role in continuing this drastic change.

This year, due to the pandemic situation, online Ramayana Parayanam is started in all areas here with participation of many people. Many online speeches about Ramayana has also been arranged.

We have already started around 15 units of 'Balagokulam', one of the Sangh parivar organisations in Kerala for children to provide knowledge about Sanatan Dharma and spirituality, to teach them how to behave towards elders and to respect all. Now, we are conducting online weekly classes of 'Balagokulam' and providing knowledge of Ramayana also with other epics like Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharata to them. Our aim is to convey the knowledge of our Dharma and spirituality to the upcoming generation. Only then our lives will be fulfilled and we can take the culture of our nation to new heights and save our Dharma.
